Sugar Cravings

Hello Everyone,

Why are so many people turned off by nutrition?

Perhaps it's because some people associate nutrition with restriction...thinking they'll have to give up their favorite foods in order to be healthy. Or is it that they are in denial? Whatever the case may be start self assessing you! NOW

At Exercise Research Academy, we've found that one of the most effective methods to overcome habitual consumption of unhealthy foods is to simply crowd them out. In other words, add more healthy food to your diet rather than cutting out the foods you enjoy. For example, just the other day one of my clients came to me and mentioned that she put more vegetables and salad on her plate. She realized that the veggies filled her up quickly and had just enough room for a small piece of meat. She practiced this way of eating for seven days and noticed that she had less cravings for big meat items. Now her confidence soared and she mentioned that she was to full to eat deserts. She now eats deserts only has an award or treat which is about once per week Her cravings have diminished over a period of time with the support of close family and friends. Support is key when you desire to stop the sugar cravings, coffee, meats or whatever you want to change. I encourage everyone to develop a support system that works for you.

In future fitness and nutrition blogs you will learn ways of living a healthy lifestyle.

Think about it. It's hard to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day and still have room to binge on ice cream later that evening. The body can only consume so much. By eating and drinking nutritious foods earlier in the day, you will naturally leave less room for unhealthy foods later on.

This method is most evident when you increase your intake of water. Fill a water bottle or pitcher with clean, filtered water and sip it steadily throughout the day. As the day progresses, you will have less room for coffee, sugary juices and soft drinks. It's really that simple!

You do not have to diet or attempt a strict way of eating. Just cut back and increasing your intake of nutritious foods -- such as dark leafy greens and whole grains -- and you'll begin to notice that your body has less desire for processed, sugary, and nutrient-deficient foods. Remember your body often times are craving fruit sugar and we are stuffing ourselves sucrose. (table Sugar)

To fully combat the root cause for your sugar or other cravings you will need to consult at least one doctor, and specific steps for stopping or decreasing cravings depend on an accurate diagnosis.

Happy New Year,

Exercise Research Academy

P.S. Don't ever give up.

Richard,
I really enjoyed this article as I battle breast cancer. I have completely change my diet, I do eat a lot of fruits. However, it is true that your body can crave sweets. So I eat a lot of green seedless grapes, strawberries, watermelon, canteloupes, blueberrries, bosenberries, green granny apples, and banannas. Also I will use agave sugar if I want something sweeten.
In any event, I eat a lot of green leafy foods such as kale, asparugsis, brocolli, collard greens, bokchoy, spinach and many other health green veggies.
Therefore, I eat less meat and eat certain meats such as beef and pork I eat those meats in moderation.
Also, very important that you know these two bullets.
* Sugar creates cancer cells.
* Cancer patiens should eat green red everyday examples: green apples, carrots, butternut squash and kale.

Thank you,

Valerie Denise Alexander
