This conversation in this blog is for the brand new people who desire to exercise for a healthier lifestyle, and who has never been on a fitness program.
There are good carbs and bad carbs and it sad to say some of us are addicted to the carbs the hurt us the most. A former client asked me how do I loose weight when I am addicted to bad carbs. I mentioned to her start a journal and keep track of what you eat and study you. Now is the time to get out of our minds and into our life.
People do not discuss carb addiction the way they do with drug or alcohol addiction. Carb addiction is a silent villain that awaits all of us if we are not careful.
I asked my client are you aware of the triggers and cravings? Her response was yes. She boldly admitted that that pies, cakes, and cookies are her biggest monsters.
Television, radio, and magazines don't help in fact they are the biggest triggers for everyone. Here are Dr. Shirley's top 7 triggers that bring us down.
1. Emotions/Depression
2. Tiredness after eating a large meal
3. Television ads
4. Stress
5. People will eat sweets to get rid of the Hunger pains.
6. When eating sweets you can't stop because your body is craving for it.
7. Holiday Season
How do we avoid or stop these cravings for bad carbs. Journal write down your thoughts and concerns. Self assessment is crucial and we must learn to pay attention to ourselves. Dr. Shirley says look at the seven areas of your life to evaluate who you are and they are as follows:
1. Family Life
2. Work
3. Social Life
4. Appearance
5. How you view yourself
6. Emotions/Fear
7. Being Alone a lot.
These are just some of the areas that we have time to discuss. I'm sure there are many more for now let's keep things simple.
1. Avoid weighing yourself daily this is a sure we way brutalized ourselves and
efforts of success. Try weighing once per month it relaxes you more.
2. Spend time with people who love to exercise just for the fun of it and the
lifestyle. Share recipes, workout programs, and join walking clubs for good
health
3. Know your mind and how it works. If you journal you can always reflect on
what happened. Writing is away we express ourselves.
4. Know your goals. Make them realistic and study your goals.
5. Listen to your body it will informs us what we need to do and keeps us focused
to stay on program.
6. Avoid Diets and get to know you by exercising safely with family and friends.
7. Reward yourself with your favorite meal, new pair of jogging shoes or even a
watch. You are your best friend now is the time to support you.
When you design a plan to focus on self not only will you grow but you'll feel better about who you are. Isn't time to take care of us and avoid the silent addiction the Carbohydrate Monsters that stares at us.
